Tooth Tales – March-April 2020
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delighteth in his way." Psalm 37:23
Such unusual days we are living in! Everything seems to be changing so fast! We were supposed to leave on the 13th of March with a team of five for ministry in a restricted middle east country. However, four days before we were to leave, the borders of that country were closed to all foreigners because of the virus and we had to cancel that trip. We’re hoping to reschedule for next spring, Lord willing.
Jack had a second trip planned to Benin to continue training his protégé, Latifou, the first week of April, but Benin is quarantining any foreign visitors for two weeks. So that trip has just recently been cancelled as well.
We have two more ministries scheduled in the coming months that can also be effected by the virus. We have a team of 11 scheduled for a medical/dental ministry to Zambia in July. With the virus just beginning to show up there in the past few weeks we will need to wait and see how that plays out. Currently, we are proceeding with the plans for this ministry. We often say that we make our plans, but God has His plan for us, and His plan is always the best! We trust Him to direct our steps.
Jack is praying that he will still be able to do a scheduled survey trip to two Central Asian countries as well as western China in August. This is an exciting opportunity to see how we can use a medical ministry to impact the spiritual lives of needy people in these more restricted parts of the world.
We’re thankful that we were able to visit six of our supporting churches before things began to shut down in America. We’re also thankful for the construction in our home of a room to store medical/dental supplies and equipment. It’s almost finished!
Being home has allowed us to be involved in some Zoom meetings with the GFA home office in preparation for the mission retreat at the Wilds/NC in May. We suspect they may also be canceled, but it’s best to be prepared! We also were able to record a podcast to promote the medical/dental mission division of GFA Missions, with local churches.
Besides these things, we’re getting caught up at home with some much needed maintenance work around the house and yard. We even got to go for a ride along the cold New Hampshire coast to escape the confines of our house one day. Even though our travel schedule has been disrupted, we’re glad to have had this time to do some of these other things.
Thanks so much for your continued prayer and interest in our ministry. We’ll be rested and ready to go when things settle down and we are able to go out again!
Please Pray:
- That the Zambia ministry in July and the survey trip in August will proceed as scheduled.
- For much wisdom regarding rescheduling cancelled ministries.
- That we will rest firmly in the sovereignty of the Lord during these uncertain times.
Sincerely in Christ,
Jack and Jennifer
